Job Overview:
Zero Point Energy is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Electrical Engineer to support the operations and maintenance (O&M) of our solar PV and battery energy storage systems in the commercial, industrial and residential sectors. The successful candidate will assist in ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of solar PV and battery energy storage systems across various sites. Exposure to new project design and execution is not excluded from scope , and may come up from time to time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operations & Maintenance (O&M):
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of solar and battery systems through online remote monitoring systems and other monitoring tools.
  • Manage the planning, resourcing and co-ordination of both planned & unplanned maintenance activities of solar panels, inverters, batteries, and associated electrical equipment at client sites, with work to be done by ZPE technical teams
  • Assist on-site technician team with troubleshooting electrical fault-finding issues and onsite repairs.
  • Maintain detailed logs, records and updates of system performance, maintenance activities, and incidents

• Technical Support & Documentation:
  • Support the development and review of maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, service reports, and system performance updates.
  • Help update asset management databases and record keeping.

• Safety & Compliance:
  • Ensure all operations adhere to South African electrical safety standards and company policies.
  • Participate in safety audits and risk assessments.

• Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work closely with senior engineers, project admin team, and on-site technician teams
  • Communicate effectively with site personnel and clients regarding system status and issues.
  • Will report to Head of Operations & Maintenance

• Qualifications:
  • Tertiary level qualification in electrical engineering mandatory (B.Sc.Eng or B.Tech. Eng or B.Eng – Electrical)
  • Driver’s licence will be highly advantageous, own vehicle will be advantageous
  • Previous renewable energy and/or electrical distribution work experience will be advantageous
