A large residential apartment complex in Johannesburg is taking a proactive step towards energy independence. A new solar and battery storage system is being installed to reduce electricity costs for residents and protect them from load shedding.
The system includes 273 solar panels, a 200 kW hybrid inverter setup, and 240 kWhr of battery storage. This combination delivers reliable renewable energy during the day and stores excess power for use at night or during grid outages.
Smart load management and control technology are being integrated across 150 units. Every geyser and other heavy load will be intelligently monitored and controlled. The system automatically prioritises where energy is directed to maximise efficiency. This approach reduces waste and ensures that the available solar and battery capacity delivers the highest possible value to residents.

Key benefits include:
- Significant savings on monthly electricity bills
- Continuous power supply during load shedding
- Automated energy control with no manual intervention required
- Reduced dependence on the grid and its fluctuations

The project is being delivered as a fully funded solution. There is no capital cost for the client. All equipment, installation, and commissioning are covered upfront, making it possible for residents to benefit immediately without financial barriers.
Once operational, the system will provide a consistent, clean energy source and a dependable backup during outages. For residents, this means greater control over energy costs, improved comfort, and a reliable power supply throughout the year.
This installation shows how residential complexes can integrate renewable energy and smart technology to improve quality of life while managing costs effectively.
