Job Specification: Junior Business Developer

Zero Point Energy is a proudly South African & Level 1 BBBEE sustainability-focused engineering company providing bespoke designs, consulting engineering & turn-key EPC solutions in the areas of renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy storage, off-grid and backup power in the Southern African commercial, industrial, public, agricultural and residential sectors. We are looking for a Junior Business Developer to join us on this exciting journey in 2021 and beyond, to contribute and add value to both the company and their career development in the niche sustainability-focused engineering sectors that we operate in.

Job roles for Junior Business Developer position are defined below:

  1. Junior Business Developer Roles: 

  • Initiate & maintain contact will new & prospective leads in line with company BD strategy & Business Development Manager
  • Progress opportunities through ZPE marketing & sales funnel up to deal closure (upon which project then handed over to project execution team)
  • Implement up to date and related marketing campaigns aligned to company strategy, engineering team and current market climate
  • Enhance and manage both lead generation & lead conversion process within the company
  • Routinely update company CRM (customer relationship management) software and databases in line with progress on existing & new deals
  • Identify & setup face-to-face meetings (in-person & virtual) with potential leads, attend industry events, and target sector in-line with company BD strategy
  • Must have good electronic marketing & software tools/social media publishing skills
  • Must have strong self-organisation skills and detail-oriented discipline
  • Follow up on and manage leads generated on company social media & via telephone discussions
  • Prior sales, marketing, and/or business development experience is a must
  • Industry specific knowledge of processes, technology, engineering systems will be a bonus
  • Reports to Business Development Manager, and responsible for generating routine reports and presentations that can be discussed at company management meetings

General Requirements:

  • Position will be based at company main office located at 50 Richmond Avenue, Auckland Park, Johannesburg
  • Must be a self-starting, confident and proactive person, with great interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work well independently as well as within company teams to progress project opportunities within the organisation
  • Willing to learn and be able to pick up new skills and knowledge of industry quickly and effectively
  • Must be proficient in in MS Office (Word, Teams, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, Calendar), social media platforms and general digital working environment i.e. must be adept and able to work in a digitally transformed workplace
  • Driver’s licence and own vehicle preferable
  • Able to provide contactable references for prior experience checks
  • Minimum qualifications: Tertiary school qualification. Bachelors degree in marketing/sales/administration will be a bonus
  • Minimum work experience: 1-2 years in a similar end-client facing business development, sales or marketing role
  • Remuneration package will be based on a base salary + lucrative deal-closing commission basis
  • Initially, 12-month contract with option to extend (performance dependent) with initial 3-month’s being a probation period
