Job Specification: Project Installation Electrician

We are looking for a Project Installation Electrician to join us on this exciting journey in 2022 and beyond, to contribute and add value to both the company and their own career development in the niche sustainability-focused engineering space that we operate in.
Project Installation Electrician Roles & Responsibilities:
- Attend site visits to assess installation requirements, install data loggers, complete site questionnaires, and site measurements for potential installation projects
- Be able to translate site visit information into electrical installation requirements on a project in alignment with project electrical engineer
- Responsible for executing electrical installation scope on projects including DB board installations, AC & DC protection, cabling, earthing & associated components, rewiring & splitting of household & commercial DB boards, installation of cable runs, trunking, fault-finding, etc
- Responsible for electrical compliance and electrical Certificates of Compliance (CoCs) in relation to SANS 10142-1-1/2 and other local and national electrical standard as well as ZPE electrical engineering designs on projects
- Responsible for company electrical equipment, tools, materials & consumables issued to site team sub-contractors or installation team members
- Responsible for ensuring company QA/QC & SH&E policies relating to electrical works are adhered to on project sites
- Work well independently and in project teams, be able to be assertive yet astute in managing teams and have good interpersonal skills on-site as well as written communication skills with company management
- Responsible for day-to-day use and care of company tools & equipment taken out and checked back in to stores
- Responsible for executing operational & maintenance electrical tasks on completed projects if and when they arise e.g. fault finding, client call-outs, firmware updates, equipment warrantee claims, remote monitoring connectivity issues, etc
- Must have electrical qualification (N3 & trade tested), be certified as an Installation Electrician with Department of Labour (Wireman’s licence holder), driver’s licence and able to travel
- Must have experience interpreting technical drawings and SLDs. Renewable energy experience will be a bonus
- Must have good organisational skills, willingness to learn and follow company guidelines, & guidance of senior team members
- Reports to Head of Electrical Operations
General Candidate Requirements:
- Company head office located at 50 Richmond Avenue, Auckland Park, Johannesburg but electrician will be expected to work on majority Gauteng project sites, as well as across South Africa if and when required
- Must be able to work well independently as well as within company teams to execute projects successfully
- Willing to learn and be able to pick up new skills and knowledge of industry quickly and effectively
- Able to provide contactable references for prior experience checks
- Minimum work experience: 3-4 years in a similar position in an electrical contracting company or similar
- Remuneration package will be based on a base salary + lucrative project profit-share basis linked to performance on projects
- Initially, 12-month contract with option to extend (performance dependent) with initial 3-month’s being a probation period
