Project:
Over 5MW of Agri-sector Solar Farm Design & Engineering
Project Scope:
Zero Point Energy was appointed by an agri-sector project developer to design & engineer several solar PV farms across South Africa. This included grount-mount and rooftop projects for farms in Limpopo, Western Cape, Northern Cape, North West and Mpumalanga.
The following engineering scope of work was conducted on projects:
- PV Module layouts
- DC string detail drawings
- Electrical single-line diagrams of the PV plant up to LV-busbar distribution point
- Optimal positioning of all electrical equipment, cable routes, DBs, etc
- Soil resistivity testing (excluded in some instances)
- Basic Earthing design for the solar PV plant (excluding grid connection earthing)
- Electrical simulation studies
- Load flow analysis o Short circuit studies
- Protection co-ordination studies o Earthing simulation studies
- Specifications of electrical equipment including: o AC and DC cabling
- Cable trunking and cable trays
- Fuses, circuit breakers and isolators
- AC and DC disconnects and combiner boxes o LV sub and main distribution boards
- Site visits and assessments
- Construction engineering support
- Issuance of digital and hard-copy sets of final design drawing packs
- Pr.Eng – professional engineer sign-off on electrical designs
